CLIMBING PARINACOTA

Base Camp I: Pueblo de Sajama 4,400m.
High Camp II: 4,700.

Day 1

From La Paz we drive to the Sajama National Park, about 5 hours of driving in our car. On the road we see the beautiful landscape with snow-covered mountains, which offer an impressive setting in contrast to the deep blue of the sky, and we also see some valuable archaeological sites dating from the time of the Aymara culture, which are now part of the cultural heritage of Bolivia.
On board our SUV, we pass through a valley of volcanic sand to the base camp, where our carrier is waiting to help us bringing most of the equipment to high camp where we get our tents.

Day 2
An early start awaits us. At 03.00 o’clock we start our ascent to the summit via the normal route of about 7 hours up to 6330m altitude. From this point we have a breathtaking view of the volcano Sajama, and the clear sky, a little deeper, we also see the lake Chungará. We climb back down to our vehicle, which is waiting for us to go to the hot springs where we can relax.

Day 3
Today we visit the geysers, where more than 80 water holes with constantly boiling water can be found, forming bubbles of different sizes, shapes and temperatures. This place reminds us of the origin of the earth.
After this beautiful experience we make our return to the city of La Paz.
