CLIMBING LLULLAILLACO

Expedition to one of America’s highest peaks and one of the most important archaeological sites, known as the roof of the world in the heart of the Andean desert city and the local history, which is located at the summit; particularly famous by the found on the top of Inca mummies, which gave the world new knowledge.
For years, an isolated place, the Altiplano is largely dominated by the landscape and its history is very special and unique and can be found only here in the Andes of Chile.

Day 1: Arrive in Santiago.
Reception of the group in Santiago de Chile; Transfer by private car to the hotel in Santiago. Check your personal mountain equipment.

Day 2: Santiago-Calama-San Pedro – Moon Valley;
Flight to Calama and transfer back to San Pedro to the valley of the moon.

Day 3: Quitor Pukara Museum;
In Pukara Quitor we take a walk and visit the museum to see the historical and geological remnants of this Andean region; 4 hours hiking.

Day 4: Trekking Catarpe and Rio San Pedro.
Transportation to the center of the Incas called Catarpe, which was the administrative office of the old inhabitants of the region, and then we hike through the canyon of the San Pedro River about 5 hours; Return to San Pedro; Hotel.

Day 5: Geysers of Tatio- climb up the San Pedro.
Transportation to the Geysers del Tatio at 4200m. Then you take a walk north to the Geysers Cerro 4900m within 4 hours. Return to San Pedro; Hotel.

Day 6: San Pedro – Llullaillaco base camp (4,500 m)
We go to the base of the volcano in about 5 to 6 hours, including a visit to the Salar de Atacama, which is the starting point of the climb; Here we will set up our base camp; Dinner in the dining tent.

Day 7: Base camp, porters, Camp1;
We begin by equipping us with the necessary equipment. Important for the acclimatization is also the hike of about 5 hours. Then the vehicles will help us to bring water and heavy equipment to Camp1. Return to Base Camp; Dinner in the dining tent.

Day 8
: Base Camp, Camp 1 (5.100m).
Hike to Camp 1 with a walk of 3 to 4 hours; Dinner in the dining tent.

Day 9: Camp 1
Rest day and acclimatization; On this day we enjoy relaxing walks, to help us with our acclimatization.

Day 10: Camp 1 carrier at Camp 1
Carrier at the last camp, which we reache by a walk of 5 hours; Dinner in the dining tent.

Day 11: High Camp (5.600m);
High camp within about 3 hours walking.

Day 12: High camp and the summit (6.770m).
Climb to the summit on a long journey of 10 to 15 hours there and back.

Day 13: Extra day for the summit.

Day 14: High camp, base camp;
Descent from high camp to base camp in a walk of 5 hours; Celebration of the ascension.

Day 15: San Pedro de Atacama;
Descend to San Pedro de Atacama; Overnight at hotel.

Day 16: Flight to Santiago;
Transfer to Calama airport; Flight back to Santiago; Hotel.

Day 17: Flight back.
Transfer to Santiago airport; Flight.

The expedition includes:

 Mountain Guide.

 Flight Santiago – Calama – Santiago with a maximum of 20 kg of baggage.
 Two nights in a hotel in Santiago, in a double room with breakfast.
 Five nights in San Pedro de Atacama, in a double room with breakfast.

 Oxygen check and oxygen equipment.
 Tents and sleeping bags.
 dining tent at base camp and C1, with tables and chairs.
 Radio communication UHF and VHF.
 Meals while staying on the mountain (breakfast, dinner and field pack).
