The Illimani is an extinct volcano and very attractive for mountaineers. For this reason, many articles have been written about this mountain, where he is known as the guardian of the city. The mountain is climbed since 1877 and has several peaks which are permanently covered by snow, and three of which are over 6000m above sea level. The highest reaches a height of 6.462m. This mountain is reserved for brave climbers and explorers with experience, because it is a technically challenging mountain.

Day 1
We will leave the city of La Paz, in a southeasterly direction and go on bord our jeep in which we come to a small town “Cohoni” after about 3 hours’ drive. There we are meeting mules, which will carry the largest part of our luggage, and we begin our ascent to the Base Camp. On the way we observe the rural life, and then enjoy a delicious meal from our chef, prepared at the camp at 4700m.

Day 2
Today, our support will help us with most of the baggage. We begin our climb from condor nest at 5,500m, from the high camp. Today we can enjoy exceptional views of Huayna Potosi 6088m and even admire the distant Sajama 6500m next to the Lake Titicaca.

Day 3
An early morning start is recommended to have enough time to handle the peak and the ridge south of the Illimani and without long pauses we will make our ascent. We will also overcome a 65 ° steep wall to reach the summit and after a well-deserved break, we begin our descent.

Day 4
Today we continue after the descent with a short walk to the village Cohoni where our vehicle will be waiting for us to bring us back to La Paz.
