One day Tour Chungara Lake

Departure: 7:00 - 8:00 am
Arrival: 6:00 pm

We will pick the passengers up at 7:00 am to start our full day tour.
We will take the road that leads to La Paz in Bolivia, running alongside the Lluta Valley where you will observe Geoglyphs dating 1200 years.
We will pursue our journey stopping at the Poconchile village where you will visit the San Jeronimo Church & its cemetery.
Then we will go past the Cardones ravine, where the Candelabra Cactus lives (You will be given some time to watch them), & the Magnetic Zone is located.
We will then stop at the Pucara de Copaquilla viewpoint which contains the ruins of a pre-Inca fortress. Breakfast will be taken in a restaurant at Zapahuira. This little break will also help you get used to the altitude.
Once acclimatized, we will go to the Socoroma viewpoint from where you will appreciate the Taapaca Volcano. We will drive on towards the Cotacotani Lagoons formed several thousands years ago by the eruption of the Parinacota Volcano. There you will discover the Bofedales with their distinctive fauna & flora...Vicuñas, Vizcachas, Guanacos, Flamingos, etc.
A few kilometres forward, we will reach the Chungara Lake which is known to be the highest non navigable lake in the world. You will have time to have a walk around and to take some photos. You will also enjoy a wonderful sight on the Parinacota Volcano and its twin the Pomerape, also known as the Payachatas.
Our next stage will be the small Parinacota village to visit its 17th century church dedicated to the Nativity Virgin, but also to discover their typical Arts & Crafts.
Our final place of interest will be Putre, Parinacota's Provincial capital, where you will have lunch. You will also have time to visit its main square, church, as well as some old fortifications.
Finally we will go back to Arica.
